About
Us
The Munsinger Clemens Botanical Society (MCBS), an all-volunteer organization, was formed in January, 2000, to bring residents and visitors in closer contact with the Gardens, to increase horticultural understanding of members and the public, to provide ongoing support of financial and other goals, and to serve as advocates on the local, regional, and national level. MCBS unites the public with the Gardens’ staff and the City of St. Cloud Parks Department. In 2005 MCBS joined with other supporters to form a single fundraising and advocacy group, the Friends of the Gardens.
Membership is open to all. You don't have to be a gardener to belong! We offer outdoor summer concerts and events. There are times to chat with the staff of the Gardens and opportunities to volunteer with friends. And the chance to be a financial patron, to assure the continuance of high garden standards into the future.
NO MEETINGS, JUST EVENTS! It’s hard to find time for yet another monthly meeting, no matter how enthused you are about a group. We stay in touch by our newsletter. Published quarterly, it provides horticultural articles, details MCBS projects and happenings, and posts a list of area garden club events members might like, along with information on how to join them. With this website information is available to the general public as well as members.
The Green Book is our listing of the season’s MCBS events, especially those for members only. It is mailed to each member at the beginning of the gardening year, giving complete information on the concert series, describing Open Days at private gardens, garden breakfasts, tours for members, or any other summer happenings of interest. Events are organized by the MCBS Board and staffed by members who have volunteered their time to do so. It is a great way to meet like-minded friends!
Since our inception in 2000 we have provided Music in the Gardens a series of free public concerts, this website of information on the Gardens, the Green Book of events for members, monthly members’ tours with the Head of the Gardens, Art for the Garden with exhibits by art professionals and crafters, national affiliation through membership in the Americal Horticultural Society, educational opportunities for the Gardens’ staff, the newsletter as a horticultural source for Gardens’ information, and a host of happenings open to the public. In addition we have been able to donate financial assistance to the Gardens. We have joined the St. Cloud Area Community Foundation as one of the Friends of the Gardens to provide structured financial support into the future.
Please join us for good times in the Gardens
